I have been caning chairs for many years, my parents taught me when I was a child, and I would help my mother with the caning of chairs. My dad taught me how to do the rush chairs, and how to work with the weaving of the rush and cabinet making. It was a great way to earn some extra spending money.

As the years went by, I noticed there was no one doing this art anymore so, I decided to help people with the chairs that were in their families for many years that needed to have a new seat or back in them.

I also do refinishing and refurbishing of wood furniture. If a chair comes to me to have a seat or back replaced with rush, hand cane or pressed cane. People who see their chair that was brought to me broken, bad seat, no seat, are all smiles when they see the furniture again, and the seat is back in it and the wood has a new luster. Most of the comments are usually “that is what it looked like in Grandma’s house”, or “wouldn’t Mom be so happy to see this restored”. If a client desires, I can give the furniture a going over as it were, to give it new life again.

If you have an idea for a piece of furniture that you would like to have built, I can do that for you also. I can build cabinets, tables, stools, and more. All you have to do is supply me with your idea, and we will create it.

Call for more information on having your chair refurbished or repaired. I am always happy to help.
